We provided vibration consulting on the City of Santa Monica Parking Structure 6, which was recognized by the International Parking Institute as one of 2014’s best designs. The facility is located in the middle of downtown Santa Monica, where its impressive facade already has become a local landmark. CGA provided consulting in the design of this facility to help minimize the vibration and noise impact from vehicles in the structure on the attached retail space. Our tasks on this project included measurements of vehicle-induced vibration and noise in typical parking garages and the construction of a three-dimensional dynamic finite element model of the proposed structure to analyze the potential vehicle impact.
