ASU’s Rob & Melani Walton Center for Planetary Health Opens

The Rob & Melani Walton Center for Planetary Heath is Arizona State University’s newest research building. Colin Gordon Associates provided vibration and noise services for ASU, which included working with the design team member Architekton, for the 281,000 sq ft, $192 Million project. The building is located at a busy intersection, close to an entertainment district, and houses research laboratories, a conference and education center, classrooms, faculty offices, and other departments. A pedestrian bridge was built to connect to the mixed-use Novus Innovation Corridor and the adjacent Valley Metro Rail stop. ASU aims for carbon neutrality by 2035, and LEED Platinum is what is expected. This project is a finalist for the 2022 RED Awards for Higher education project of the year. The Real Estate Development Awards are comparable to the Academy Awards in Arizona’s commercial real estate industry.
