Colin Gordon Associates provided noise and vibration consulting for ZGF Architects on Santa Clara University’s Sobrato Campus for Discovery and Innovation. This project features a new 270,000-sf facility that brings together Silicon Valley entrepreneurship and academia. The developer behind the first Apple headquarters, John A. Sobrato is the donor for this building who SCU brought in to have a say in every phase of the design, along with input from faculty, staff, and students.
The building spaces are organized by themes of research and teaching. The project includes areas for collaboration, transparent offices for faculty, an outdoor classroom, café, lounge and break areas, and student spaces for projects, clubs and organizations. The Sobrato Campus is the largest project in SCU’s history. The university’s goals were to focus on STEM, to obtain net-zero energy, provide diversity in teaching and learning spaces, and make space for entrepreneurial collaboration of technology and life science companies.
